Artificial intelligence is no longer a technology experiment, it is one of the most significant commercial decisions a founder or growth leader will make in the next five years.
Here is what makes that interesting: according to McKinsey & Company – 2025 Global AI Survey, 88% of organisations are already using AI in at least one business function. Yet only 39% report any measurable impact on operating profit. That is a remarkably wide gap for a technology that is supposedly transforming everything.
The reason is not access. Most businesses can get their hands on AI tools. The reason is that most businesses are deploying AI without changing the underlying systems that actually determine financial performance, their pricing logic, demand forecasting, operational workflows and margin controls. AI sits on top of those systems, producing useful insights, but never quite moving the numbers that matter.
